Our otolaryngologists are board certified with decades of experience in the profession. Rick E. Erickson, M.D.

Dr. Erickson graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Biochemistry.  He attended The University of Texas - Houston for medical school and received his training in Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery at the Oklahoma University Health Science Center.

Dr. Erickson is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery, the Texas Medical Association, the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, and has been board certified since 2000.  He serves the community through the American Red Cross, Paris Junior College Wesley House ministry, and the First United Methodist Church, Paris.

Mark D. Gibbons, M.D.

Dr. Gibbons was born and raised in Houston, Texas and graduated from Klein High School.  He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point and graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.  He completed an otolaryngology/head & neck surgery residency at the University of Alabama - Birmingham.
 

Dr. Gibbons retired as a lieutenant colonel from the United States Army after over 21 years of service.  During his career he served in the 82 nd Airborne Division and the 3 rd Battalion, 75 th Ranger Regiment and he commanded the 53 rd Medical Detachment (Head and Neck) during Operation Iraqi Freedom.  His military awards include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, three Meritorious Service Medals, and the Purple Heart.

Dr. Gibbons is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology.  He is a member of the Lamar/Delta County Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, and the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery.
 

Outside of his medical practice Dr. Gibbons is an avid baseball fan (Go Astros!) and enjoys swimming, lifting weights, attending church, and watching his kids play sports.  His wife, Janice, is a pediatrician who was raised in west Texas.  They have 6 children in various stages of life from early adulthood to intermediate school.  Their oldest son is an infantry officer in the U.S. Army.
